Happy Thanksgiving! Our family here at CTI hopes your holiday is full of great food, good company, and a little well-deserved rest. As we celebrate this week, I also want to take a minute to shine a light on the logistics world — especially what’s going on behind the scenes during this super-busy time of year.
To start, some big-picture numbers: according to a recent forecast from ShipMatrix, the U.S. is expected to deliver 2.3 billion packages during this 2025 holiday peak — that’s about a 5% increase over last year. (1) This is great news for our industry but also means that the coming months will be incredibly busy, as logistics brokers handle 20% – 25% of all U.S Truckloads. That is 1 in every 4! (2) With the increased volume around this time of year you can expect some long nights and full load boards. That said, the holiday season remains one of the most important times for supply chain players — and how they handle this peak could shape their strategies for months to come.
So, as you tuck in to your Thanksgiving feast and enjoy the day, I’m thankful for all the logistics professionals out there hustling to make this season run smoothly — from port workers and truck drivers to warehouse teams and planners. Here’s wishing you a happy, peaceful Thanksgiving, and a holiday season that delivers (quite literally).
